Medicare recently launched a free app that gives beneficiaries a way to quickly see whether it covers a specific medical procedure or service. No more poring through a cumbersome website or calling and waiting to speak to a representative. This simple to use app delivers the information you need in a few clicks.
Simply search or browse to learn what is covered and what is not under Medicare Parts A and B. See how and when to get covered benefits, basic cost information and other eligibility details. You can also see a list of covered preventive services.
Keep in mind that while the app provides a wealth of general information, it does not provide personalized information. Since it does not know each user’s specific insurance information, it does not provide information on supplemental insurance, co-insurance, and deductibles.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services include this app under its new initiative to modernize the system and empower beneficiaries with access to information. There are also new web chats, transparency pricing tools and a comprehensive handbook.
