Emma Akers
Emma Akers is an attorney at Stouffer Legal. Before joining the firm, she served as a staff attorney at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta and interned with the Senate Banking Committee, Governing for Impact, and the Federal Trade Commission. That early work gave her a broad view of how the law operates at every level, from major institutions to the individual families she serves today.
She earned her law degree cum laude from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where she was Executive Editor of Health Matrix: Journal of Law-Medicine and President of the Women's Law Association. Her time in law school was marked by both leadership and recognition, including Outstanding Law Student of the Year from the National Association of Women Lawyers. Before law school, she graduated summa cum laude from Cleveland State University with a degree in Political Science and Sociology.
It was also at Cleveland State that Emma was a Division I diver, an experience that taught her the discipline and focus she now brings to her legal career. That same steadiness shapes how she works with clients, guiding them through decisions that are often personal and significant with patience and clear direction. Her goal is to make estate planning approachable for everyone, giving each client and their family confidence and peace of mind about the future.

ABOUT ME
People Often Ask...
- Do I really need an estate plan if I don’t have a lot of assets?Yes. An estate plan isn't just about dividing property — it also lets you name guardians for minor children, choose who handles your estate, and avoid leaving those decisions up to state law. Regardless of the size of your estate, having a will and trust gives you and your family clarity and peace of mind.
- When should I update my estate plan? It's a good idea to review your plan every few years, or after major life events like marriage, divorce, the birth of a child, or a significant change in assets. Regular check-ins help make sure your plan still reflects your wishes and current laws.

“What are all creatures—even me—doing at all times but playing in the world, playing before their tinkering Lord?”
“What is laughter but a moment of release where pain and memory are washed away? When we laugh, we are stronger. When we laugh, we heal the world.”
